Traditional cinemas in Melbourne and regional Victoria remain closed under existing coronavirus restrictions, but open-air movies have been given the green light and are set to commence in Ballarat in mid-November.

Around cars will be able to bask in the retro-cinema glory when the town's newest cinema experience is officially revived, after the town's last drive-in cinema closed in A big screen will be erected at the Ballarat showgrounds — with the first film scheduled to be aired on Friday the 13th.

Mr Jones will kick off a six-month stint of movies with an appropriate film, given the date — The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I really like the thought of Norma Shearer sending up Greta Garbo. That alone would be worth the price of admission.

Having said that, I really enjoyed your take on this movie. You know, I believe that Gable enjoyed working with Norma and vice versa, because I think they prodded each other to stretch the confines of their images.

And I give you this performance and theirs in Strange Interlude as proof. Both pretty weird movies that they actually manage to succeed in. Like you intimate, the movie was more the characters reactions of what might come.
